Sporting Heritage Showcase Success

Wednesday 23 March saw the much-anticipated ‘Auchterarder Sporting Heritage’ showcase take place in the Pavilion.

On a gloriously sunny day, it was great to welcome so many people from the community to the pavilion to learn a little more about the powerful impact reminiscing about sport can have.

There were snippets from cricket, football, golf, rugby and shinty, with all being linked to the history of the sport in Auchterarder or to famous players who live/lived in the town - and there were plenty of books, cards, equipment, photos and even smells which linked to previous sporting activities.

Our thanks go to: Hugh Dan MacLennan, Neil Stobie, Michael White, Lorraine Young and the team from Saints in the Community who all came to present at the Showcase.

Our thanks, also, to everyone from the community who dropped into the session. ACSR’s ‘Participation’ Working Group will now look to set up a regular opportunity to bring everyone together, as a result of the successful showcase.
