Auchterarder Trishaw Project - Your Help Needed
Gordon McLeay is leading the project to create a new Trishaw ‘Chapter’ within Auchterarder - and we are looking to volunteers to help support the project.
Gordon already has an impressive number of people keen to get involved - but we would love you to #BeActiveBeInvolved too:
“Dear Friends
I am looking for expressions of interest to help with a volunteer project we are setting up in Auchterarder.
As part of supporting sustainable transport and encouraging people onto 2 wheels for all the benefits it brings, we are very close to setting up a new project in Auchterarder and the surrounding area and we are looking for your help. The project is part of our new Auchterarder Communities Cycling Hub (which in turn is part of Auchterarder Community Sport & Recreation - ACSR).
It is called Cycling Without Age Scotland (CWAS) where volunteers take older residents of care homes out for a short trip around the local area on an electric trishaw. It is a hugely rewarding undertaking, as those who have given their time can attest to. More details can be found at www.cyclingwithoutage.scot .
We have already secured funding for the trishaw and the next stage is to ask for volunteers to help with the rides, either to “pilot” the trishaw (it is electric and very easy) or as an out-rider to accompany the trishaw. The likely commitment is 1.5 hours every 2 weeks either during the week or at a weekend. Training is provided and a PVG check will be done free of charge.
If you are interested or simply want to know more, contact me directly. I am happy to talk it all through.
Best Wishes
Gordon McLeay
