ACSR Secures National Lottery Community Fund Award

ACSR is today (Friday 8th March 2024) delighted to announce that the National Lottery Community Fund has made an award of £66,209.  The award will support the on-going development of ACSR and the development of more projects which directly improve the lives of people within Auchterarder.

The funding will enable our Charity to extend the employment of our Development Manager, Tim Hart, for another two years until April 2026.  Tim will continue to provide support to our Trustees and our three Working Groups: Core Paths, Green Spaces and Sport & Recreation – who all work together to advance public participation in sport and recreation activities in Auchterarder.

Ian Somerville, Chair of Auchterarder Community Sports and Recreation said: “This is fantastic news and are so grateful for this award. In the past few years, we have seen the benefits of having a full time Development Officer in helping to guide and support the respective Working Groups and Trustees that make up ACSR. The Children’s Play Area in the park, upgraded and opened during 2023, is an example of the big type of community project we have been able to develop and deliver during the three years of the project to date. We continue significant planning to develop other projects and facilities, which may appear slightly smaller in stature, but bring so much enjoyment and benefit to those who use them. Improving the community for the benefit of those living locally is something we can only do thanks to the support from The National Lottery.”

Gemma Simpson, Sport Development Officer for Auchterarder said: “I’m thrilled for ACSR that the Lottery application to the Communities Fund has been approved for another two years. Having financial security in the form of Lottery Funding is very welcome and helps ACSR to progress several large-scale projects such as the Auchterarder Pump Track installation and the development of other local greenspaces for the purpose of recreation. We are very grateful to Lottery players across the country for helping to fund the community work we are proud to do.”
