Why use an electric bike? For many it’s the difference between choosing to cycle or not. Remove the fear of that hill. The assist will make you feel stronger rather than giving you the sensation of being 'driven' anywhere. You are still a cyclist and crucially still in control with your feet. Mixed ability riders can now ride together, and the distance of your ride doubled or the time halved. Commutes become less sweaty and the car stays in your drive. But most importantly....FUN!
Aren’t they really heavy? NO, as battery and motor technology has improved so too has weight and integration. All E-bikes for sale at Synergy Cycles feature the latest motors and slim-line batteries. The result is a well-balanced bicycle that moves around just like a regular bicycle.
Are they really expensive? If you choose to invest, there is a new, exciting funding opportunity available in Scotland through Energy Saving Trust. Offering an interest-free loan to buy an E-bike. This scheme is funded by Transport Scotland. The E-bike loan is for up to £6,000 with a repayment period of 4 years.
Is it cheating? Absolutely not! Our bikes are pedal-assist bikes, meaning they simply make it easier to pedal. Push harder on the pedals and the bike will respond to varying degrees according to the level of assist selected. A higher level can be chosen when climbing those hills and a gentle level of assist given when cruising on the flats - or you can turn it off altogether and ride it as a regular bike.
How often will I have to recharge it? All of the bikes at Synergy Cycles have a minimum range of 50 miles. With up to 4 modes available we encourage users to use the modes just like mechanical gears. With an 80% recharge achievable in as little as 90 mins there will be no stopping you!
How do I maintain it? We work with Raleigh, Tern and Hai Bike using both Yamaha and Bosch motor systems. These are closed systems with an incredible reliability record. The integrated positioning of the motor and battery leaves the remainder of the bicycle mechanically identical to pushbikes you're familiar with. Our workshop is equipped to service and maintain these bikes well into the future.
Do I need, a licence, tax or insurance to ride a Electric bike. NO, in England, Scotland & Wales if your over the age of 14 you simply ride and operate these like a regular bicycle.
